There's been a tragic fire in our building, currently we have no access to our shop and the stock isn't salvageable. It's early days and we have every hope to return, but this is going to be a long process. Bear with us while we work out where we go from here. Oct 2024 UPDATE : we have access, however the entire shop has deteriorated, in the months of no access. Mould and damp have taken over. Currently emptying contents, until the roof has been reinstated, the shop cannot be repaired as not water tight.

Saturday 20th July  2024,  10-2pm (1  x 4 hour session) 

A workshop to create applique designs, together with free motion embroidery.

Being creative …

  • Beginning with simple exercises to ‘get in the flow’ of using the sewing machine to doodle.
  • Learning about the suitable sewing machine foot.
  • Discovering which threads and products to use.
  • How to use fusible webbing for applique.
  • Combing your applique and doodle techniques to create a unique to you picture(s)*

* We have 3 designs for you to work through.  It is only natural that everyone works at different speeds, you may not complete all 3 designs within the 4 hour session BUT you will have the relevant kit to continue with them at home.

  • You’ll discover your own style, just like everyone’s hand writing is different.
  • A fabulous way to personalise your makes.

  • AGE: 16 years plus.
  • CLASS SIZE: 4 people.
  • SKILL: beginner, you will have used a sewing machine, and/or attended one of our classes previously.
  • MATERIALS INCLUDED: fabrics, stabilisers,  thread, colourful scrap fabrics, instructions, picture frame
  • EQUIPMENT: use of our sewing machines, irons, pins, scissors etc – you just turn up!
  • TUTOR: Marice.
  • WHERE: sessions takes place in the studio space at The Wee Fabric Shop, 21 Tomatin Road, Inverness. IV2 4UA.

IMPORTANT : From 2021, classes are no longer refundable. There is a lot of work to be done before you arrive at your class. Preparation and time, materials sourced and paid for, fabrics cut to size, instructions written / printed out, thread matched, bobbins wound, and Tutors paid. Class sizes are small and everything is costed. For this reason we are also unable to transfer your place to another class. You may send someone in your place, just let us know their name and contact details in advance please. If you are unable to attend, do contact us as soon as possible 01463 263007, with exceptional circumstances we may be able to arrange something but this is not part of the booking terms and conditions.
