Saturday 2nd March, 10am – 12.30pm. (2.5hour session)
A book of one’s own – an introduction to bookbinding that brings together a range of skills for designing, preparing, sewing and filling a unique book. You will learn different techniques for folding and cutting paper, for making pockets and for holding it all together with a selection of hand-sewn bindings. Fill your book photos, mementoes, doodles and further creative ideas as you see a flat sheet of paper evolve into a book of your own.
We are very excited to bring you another traditional craft with the wonderful Lesley Murray, as our special guest skill sharer, to guide you through the book binding process. This will be a relaxed class, learning a new craft. Lesley has been teaching bookbinding and other craft workshops for over 20 years and loves binding books to fill with stories, ideas or memorabilia.
Wouldn’t it be fabulous to make one for your sewing project, or to gift along with a sewn item you are making for someone else.
- We’ll create one book by using origami, different stitched bindings and pockets…
- The 2.5 hour session should be more than enough time, to be able to enjoy making and completing your project.
- Everything will be provided for you, HOWEVER you are encouraged to bring along any paper you would like to incorporate in.
- You will have materials left over to be able to create more at home.
- Tea and coffee will be provided.

IMPORTANT : From 2021, classes are no longer refundable. There is a lot of work to be done before you arrive at your class. Preparation and time, materials sourced and paid for, fabrics cut to size, instructions written / printed out, thread matched, bobbins wound, and Tutors paid. Class sizes are small and everything is costed. For this reason we are also unable to transfer your place to another class. You may send someone in your place, just let us know their name and contact details in advance please. If you are unable to attend, do contact us as soon as possible 01463 263007, with exceptional circumstances we may be able to arrange something but this is not part of the booking terms and conditions.
