Sew a little more : 3 Week Course Tuesdays 6pm 16th, 23rd & 30th April

Tuesday 16th, 23rd & 30th April 2024.    6.00pm – 8.00pm.  (3 wks of 2 hour sessions)

Another fantastic wee course for those who are new to sewing, scared or a little rusty.  You’ll learn to sew in a relaxed atmosphere, where it’s okay to make mistakes! We’ll show you how to fix them. You’ll learn lots of tips and tricks, that we’ve picked up over the years, helping you to find your own sewing style.  Each week you’ll complete a project whilst learning new techniques.  

• Fabric Basket –  you’ll be using wadding, adding handles to to lined item and learning box corners.  We’ll discuss a couple of wadding options – which you receive a wee sample of.  You’ll be making one in class and a 2nd precut for you to take home. (You may start if there is time left in the session).
• Drawstrings bag – sew contrasting fabrics together, lining and box corners (repeat learning from previous week) adding and threading a drawstring channel.  Again sewing one in class and another to take home to sew.
• Pin Cushion Thread Bag – a combination of your learnt skills, plus double lining for the pin cushion which we’ll fill with sand.  Hand sewing (a tight whip stitch) is required for closing the pin cushion as we don’t want sand near the machine.

These classes are for those who have sewn before, completed our Beginners Course, sewn the tote bag with us , you may be a little rusty or just wanting to create projects in a social setting with others.   It is a relaxed, fun class, where we want you to enjoy your experience.  You will not be expected to know anything about sewing. Perfect to grab a friend and spend some time learning something new!

• During the sessions  you will be diving straight into sewing.
• Learning more techniques to create each project.
• Ask as many questions as you like as you sew along, we want you to find your sewing style, there’s always more than one way to get the same outcome.
• Everything is provided for you, the fabric will be pre cut, ready for you to enjoy sewing. (Fabric may not be the same as the photograph)
• Use of our equipment and sewing machines.
• Instructions to take away.
• Tea and coffee will be provided.

• AIM: to spread the joy of sewing, a fun relaxed class, enabling you to continue your sewing journey.
• WHERE: sessions takes place in the studio space at The Wee Fabric Shop, 21 Tomatin Road, Inverness. IV2 4UA.
• WHAT TO BRING: Nothing, everything is provided.  You take home 3 fabulous projects, instructions to recreate at home and one of our favourite tools ~ the measuring gauge.

*All materials provided, including use of sewing machines & equipment.

IMPORTANT : From 2021, classes are no longer refundable. There is a lot of work to be done before you arrive at your class. Preparation and time, materials sourced and paid for, fabrics cut to size, instructions written / printed out, thread matched, bobbins wound, and Tutors paid. Class sizes are small and everything is costed. For this reason we are also unable to transfer your place to another class. You may send someone in your place, just let us know their name and contact details in advance please.
